I used to work in marketing at my last job so I'm pretty familiar with SEO. I know it's a huge leap for most people to see themselves ranking on page one of google. But sometimes, for reasons you aren't really sure of, you start seeing an upswing of very odd keywords hitting your site. I am not sure what it is that Google thinks Skunk.Guru is about, but I am sure it's not what people expected when they hit my site after these searches.
The infamous "Facebook Butt Mom."
I'm saying infamous, but really, I don't know. I don't want to know. I don't even have the balls to google "Facebook Butt Mom" or "Mom Butt" or "Butt Mom" or "FB Moms Butt" to find out why all of a sudden it trended enough to send people swarming to (and bouncing from in sexual frustration no doubt) my blog post about Gingy's Prolapse. At least I can understand why I ranked on that one. A Blog title of "Butt Mom!" as a cheeky play on words hit me square in the middle of whatever mom was suddenly a facebook craze.
"gugu black big booty mama"
This is another one of those "I don't know, I don't want to know" keywords. I got hit by this one several times recently, and oddly enough this one is hitting on the same prolapse blog post as the Butt Mom. I mean, MAYBE, google thinks that gugu is a misspelling of guru. I can see google saying "did you mean Guru black big booty mama?" at the top of the page as if they have figured out exactly why you are having problems finding what you are looking for. But still. Other than the fact that my skunks are black, I don't see where this search term comes across on my site.
"guru flea siapa ?"
I don't think this one is even in English. A quick search on google tells me nothing, and the best guess we can get from checking is that Siapa might be Malay for "who is." I imagine that out there somewhere is a very disappointed Malaysian still wondering: "who IS the flea guru?"
"sniffing skunk butt"
I. Just. Can't. Even. Why? Who would EVER? What would make you search for it? Do you think there are other skunk butt sniffing enthusiasts out there sadly wishing they could meet someone to share their hobby with? Sorry buddy, you're on your own with this one.
So yeah, looking at my analytics every month almost always brings a chuckle. But I do see a high number of keywords that let me know people are helped by my site. Skunk Shows, Skunk colours, Skunk patterns, What do skunks eat?, What does skunk chirping mean? I'm fairly certain that those people were able to find what they were looking for. So to all of you skunk lovers out there (butt sniffers and otherwise) search away, and to the rest of you, who probably didn't find what you were looking for, and are now sad that you found this blog instead of awesome "Mom Butt"... Sorry about that.
